Ok, here’s the situation. DotFriday reminded you to take 3 medications at 7:00. You just swallowed two, but you can’t remember if you have already taken the last one or not. Believe it or not, even when we are standing in front of our kitchen cupboard looking at our bottles of medication, some of us can’t remember what we did 30 seconds ago.
You are not alone. It has happened to me, and I have heard a number of people admit that they have done the same thing (which means that it has happened to many more!). And while short term memory trouble can be a sign of illness, it is also a product of tired, busy and distracted people.
Here is a technique that can help.
Before you take any of your medications, take all of them out of the bottles and put them on a plate or paper towel in front of you. Check the medications against your DotFriday list on the Today page or your printed Weekly Medication Report. Then, once you know they are all there, you can take them. Tell DotFriday you took them as prescribed and go on with your day. No more worrying about whether you took them or not!
It is the little things that add undue stress to our day. If you have any other techniques to ensure that you have taken your meds as prescribed, let us know!
